When you approach someone for the 1st time, ...
- you get exactly 20 seconds to make that person curious over the phone;
- you get slighly more or 30 seconds to score someone's business card at a networking event;
- the addressee will decide within 2,7 seconds whether he/she will read, delete or forward your e-mail.
Since that other person does not know you, is not expecting you and is busy with other priorities, he or she is not yet interested in who you are or what your company or offerings are. Only make them think by asking questions and creating curiosity. Leave the ego-position and keep your secrets secret, as long as possible.
